I have just bought an immaculate like new E-M1X which is very nice but BIG to be honest I didn't think it would be this size, I have had Nikon D4 and D4s before, but this seems to be on par size wise and I thought Olympus were much smaller in comparison, the wife has an E M1 MKIII and that seems to be perfect for her and I have played with it and it is a lovely bit of kit, so what do I do, stick with the E-M1X or shift it on in favour of the newer OM 1 MK2 what are the advantages of getting the OM 1 MK2 over the E-M1 MKIII or should I just stick with the E-M1X and hit the gym

I have had the E M1 3 and currently have the OM 1 2.
Never had an issue the the E M1 3.

The OM has more computational features. I use the ND grad and find the tracking and subject detection pretty good on it as well.

I’m probably/certainly in the minority and likely to be shot down, but I always thought the EM-1X was a grave mistake by Olympus in getting away from the m4/3 ethos of keeping cameras compact but competent. The only saving grace of the X is that it still accepts the compact lenses of the m4/3 system. I firmly believe that to get the best out of a camera it must firstly feel “happy” in the hand.

I held am EM-1X and thought it felt just right. I often use a grip on my EM-1 (and now OM-1). But not all the time.

For me the big no-no was that you couldn't detach the grip...

I actually went out with the E-M1X and for a big camera, its surprisingly comfortable to use, even with a 100-400 attached, so as these are basically the same but larger version of the
E-M1 MKIII I will keep it for a while and give it a decent try out, image wise, I simply cant fault it.

Straight out of the camera and reduced in quality to put on forum.

I’ve had the MiX And found it produces a good image , but does it slightly differently to the other 1 series bodies , again the bird I.d is different to the om1 bodies and I found it superior for multiple birds . But to answer the initial question it’s purely a matter of personal choice -
I have been a fairly long term fan of Olympus but the sensor choices ( sizes ) are limited and all the same and while 2x crop is desirable for bird/ wildlife I now find I’m getting far more detail from the Nikon Z8 files which also imho has better bird I.d .
