I've finally got to using my OM1 and the rewind release switch is broken as it doesn't stay in the 'unlocked' position (horizontal) and springs back to the 'locked' position (vertical). I can of course just hold it in the unlocked position whilst rewinding the film, but it's a slight pain and I would like to fix it if possible. Anyone know a way to fix it please?

Whilst I'm here, when stopped down and using the depth of field preview button the semicircles of the split prism are sometimes black. Sometimes it's the top one, sometimes the bottom one and sometimes both. Is this just a case of not enough light getting in and then the angle I'm looking through the viewfinder?

As to the first matter I'm sorry that I cannot help.

In the second case you are correct about lack of light being the cause of the split image focussing spot blacking out, not enought light. You might find it also happens with longer lenses having smaller apertures even when fully open. That's my experience with my Yashica FR1 etc.

Thanks. As for the first issue I think the lock is broken as I stupidly tried to see if I could rewind the film without moving the release switch and I could, I'm going to end up with a double exposure now :ROFLMAO:
