So at last it's been officially launched - and it's only £6499 !!

It makes their new(ish) 100-400mm look like a bargain.

What do you think the uptake is going to be like ?

It’s a nice looking lens & actually I would say fairly priced compared to other brand equivalents.

However in my opinion, as like equivalent other brand versions, I would imagine its uptake would be what Oly expect, however only based on that the people who buy it will probably be earning from their shots. And so like me for example as a hobbiest, I’m quite happy to stick with the 100-400 which is more than sufficient for me :)

Plus, will have to look, a new lens in the past has meant firmware updates for the cameras............if so this time I hope it is not just for the lens and/or video 'improvements'???

PS as for the price, none too surprising so as for take up? In common with both Canon and Nikon users, there folk who can afford such gear (who are not pro's) so it will be interesting to learn how well it does sell???

My initial thoughts this morning were it will be to heavy but 1.8kg isn’t bad .. and I did consider upgrading to a mkiii but maybe the e.mix would not be such a bad idea

The EM1X seems to get more of the goodies.

I can't see any modes for the IS on this lens I would have thought it would have them.

Rob.

I have posted this review in the Olympus gear thread but seemed appropriate as applicable here ;)
