Afternoon all,
As I still can't decide which zoom lens I want for my GX1,here is another option!
Question is,what are the pros and cons of this lens on a GX1,compared to the Panasonic equivalents?
Is anybody currently using this combination?

What should I expect to pay for a really good condition one secondhand?
Regards

No idea what the panny is like, but this version, while reviewed as better, isn't impressive with the example I own.

General softness and lack of contrast. It's not *terrible* but I'd expected something closer to my Sony 18-55 kit lens.

Thanks for your input!

Looks like it's going to be the Panasonic 14-42 mark 2,seems to be more favourable.

my oly ez is fine, i own the 2.8 pro as well and its not that level but as a good compact walk around ive no issues with it. bung on an auto lens cap and you have a cracking "compact"
only bit i am not that keen on it the speed of the zoom

I had an excellent one of these : it came with my black e-pL7 and was nicely sharp, just like the m.Zuiko 14-42 collapsibles.
I sold it ASAP because I never really use this focal length of zoom. I think I got £125, for a quick sale.
I had no negative issues trying it on my Panasonic bodies, and the e-shutter could be a positive advantage in shuttershock shutterspeed ranges, if that's your thing.

Personally I use a 9-18mm wide zoom, the Lumix 20mm prime and the 45mm prime for most things, just don't get on with the normal 14-45-ish zoom range.

Luxxyman : do you want a tiny lens, or a zoom lens especially?

I want something reasonably compact, but still trying to decide from my original thoughts of the Panny 20mm or the 14-42,I suppose it boils down to whether I'm prepared to get closer to my subjects, then the 20mm would probably the best option?

a prime will be better but less versatile. remember the crop factor on m4/3 means its more like a 40mm lens, so a standard prime.
your not that close really-well depended what your subject matter is i guess.

Decided I needed something a bit wider,so have just purchased a secondhand Panny 14mm 2.5!
