Hi Guys,

Looking at getting one of these as my first DSLR, i know it is an entry level, and would like to know the thoughts of those in the know.

Just for info, get pick one up around £200, don't think there is anyting else to touch that price brand new is there.

thank you for your time.

I bought one of these.

This twin lens kit

I took it back for a refund after 1 day.
I suspect it was the cheapo-feeling lenses supplied with it, but I could not get a decent image out of it.

The images seemed very soft compared to my old Konica Minolta Dynax 5D.

Luckily I got a full refund, which I spent on a secondhand Canon 400D and some glass.

Having said all that, my friend has achieved some very good results with his older Oly 410.

Maybe it's just me that couldn't use it.

Tell me you're joking! The Zuiko lenses are superb, especially the 14-42mm. I've never heard a bad word about the E410 until now. My bro in law has one and when compared to my E420 it's difficult to see why it's any cheaper. He's had some excellent results with it, and it is one of those double zoom kits you've linked too. I wonder whether the individual lens itself was a bit dodgy? How do you mean 'cheap feeling'?

PC World seem to have a good deal on the E410DZ,if one can be found in store that is

Maybe I just got a ropey one.
The lenses felt very lightweight and plastic.
The whole camera felt very, very light and flimsy.

As I said, my friend has had some excellent results with his.

I took around 150 shots with it. Tried both lenses under different conditions.
When I transferred the shots to the PC, I was so disappointed with the results. Not a single shot was anywhere near as sharp or clean as my old Dynax 5D.
I felt as though I had just flushed £280 down the pan.

Thing is, i can pick one up for about £170, is there anything else that is near the price? Having a search round, looking at least £100+ for anything near,

Forgive me if I sound a little rude, but the whole point of the E-4*0 series were that they were lightweight and compact lol. Each to their own though, like I said I've heard good reports on the 410s and my 420 is the dog's danglies.

I have a 400 and have never had any issues, the Zuiko lenses seem very good. This is my first DLSR and I am chuffed with the olympus.
