I have tried unsuccessfully to find this camera with its kit zoom lens for several months. It sells for about £400. Today I noticed that a major retailer had the body only for sale at £319, and the lens (M.ZUIKO Digital ED 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ) for sale at £269. I'm new to this - what's going on? Can't the retailer simply put both items in one box and sell it at the kit price? Forgive my naivety.
Another question: I've seen the lens on sale at a reasonable price on a web site in the Far East. Are there any drawbacks in buying the lens from them and the body here?
Any advice much appreciated.

Welcome to TP :)

Where have you looked? Seems to be readily available for around £400 with lens. Camera Price Buster is a good place to find stuff at best prices http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/Olympus/Olympus-Micro-43-System-Cameras

Thanks!
I have tried all the big names, such as Jessops, Wex, Park, plus local John Lewis. The problem is that these first three dealers all advertise the item, (and it appears in the Price Buster listing), but when it comes down to it, don't actually have it in stock, and cannot give a firm date. Price Buster did supply one link that looks a possibility though, and I will follow that up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh right, I see the problem.

On the price of camera and lens separately, maybe the dealer could put them together as a kit, maybe not. Depends how they were supplied. If as a kit from Olympus, they'll get a deal on that plus cameras and lenses in a kit don't attract import duty; normally cameras are duty free, but lenses aren't. Duty is about 6% or thereabouts. Or being a little more cynical, the dealer could have got them in as a kit, but has chosen to separate them to make a bit more, especially if they're hard to get hold of.
