Something like this will probably be fine.

A 50mm lens is the "standard" 35mm. The other lenses, bag and flash will all be handy. For film b&w Kentmere 100 & 400 is a good (and cheap) place to start.

Edit: For the "have to do some film photography" just relax and do it, why not start now and excel next year.

Thanks I will try that link
That link doesn't give any info about whether it's in full working - please check with the seller before bidding or buying.

Might also be worth checking with the Uni if they recommend any particular Olympus models.

h'mm OM10 ..you'll have to make sure it has a seperate manual adapter to be more useful. If it has to be an Olympus camera, I'd go for the OM20.
All strange the Uni picking one make of camera  .........is the idea to teach you to use an Olympus camera or more important about results which any other decent make of camera can achieve.

Is there any reason they want you to use an Olympus? It seems overly prescriptive to me for a module on a course?

+1
I would also check if they have any particular required specification; single lens reflex, rangefinder, manual, automatic?

Well maybe the guy running the course has only got an Olympus camera and didn't want to be embarrased with students bringing in different makes and asking questions on how to use them. :)

I picked up a mint (really mint!) boxed OM20 from Ffordes this last week for less than £60. Also, from Ebay, I have just ordered an Oly 35-70 f4 lens for £40. So you could get sorted for a very reasonable amount.
