I have no interest in sports, but I have been watching the curling (my sister has been staying). I had no idea how much strategy was involved in curling, and once I had read up on the rules and grasped the strategic principles, I rather enjoyed it.
However, my best moment was being moved by the graciousness of the Japanese team today, who after losing the Gold to GB, were still able to give them hugs and smiles that came across as a genuine "well done, you played well".
I know it's only a little thing, but in contrast to a lot of things these days, it made me feel rather "warm and fuzzy" inside.
The other aside is that Vicky Wright, 3rd player in the GB team gave up nursing (surgical nurse) in 2018 to be able to focus on preparing for the Games, but returned full time to nursing when covid hit. Making it very difficult to keep up with the training programme. She's currently taking annual leave to fit the games in. I'm impressed.
