Was just about to comment on this and was looking for a suitable title,the one I wanted already being used :D
Must admit they remind me of some wacky Japanese game show :nuts:

i still ask why the hell we are worried about it appealing to children, when largely they wont be watching the games or have any idea about them.

Games will be a joke, ive done enough events relating to it to know that. The crappy obsession with using people from the 'endz' for music is commical, yeah have some talentless london rappers do it! *****
 
I must say that I think they look **** but to be fair it is in keeping with the **** logo that was chosen too!

And as said above, they look like something from a Japanese game show!
 
I have to say when I saw them on The One Show last night my initial thought was what a waste of money. They then went back over the other mascots and they were all just cuddly toys.

Totally changing my mind I now have to congratulate them for trying something different and giving them the modern touch.

I'm afraid you will either like them or loath them.
 
Well, the logo looks like Lisa Simpson giving a BJ so it's only natural that the mascots look like "sperm in sneakers" as I've seen them described.

And was an early evening TV magazine show the proper platform to launch the sperms?
 
Looks like one is a tooth and the other a fat person.

It's a surprise that this country gets selected to host any important event when all the media and public seem to be intent on is criticising every aspect of what ever is produced.

The UK has one of the most culturally diverse populations and is renowned for it appreciation of things that 'push the envelope'

I thought that the 2012 logo was a bit strange at first but it has grown on me over the last couple of years. Previous mascots have been, as already noted, just cuddly toys. Well done to the Olympic team for looking in a different direction.

The attitude that the 2012 games is going to be a joke really p.155es me off. If everyone has that attitude then it is destined to fail.

Embrace the build up, embrace the event, enjoy the fact that the globes top sportsmen (and women) will be on these shores for you to watch. Look forward to the fact that there will be a sporting legacy for years after the event that will benefit the country.

All we seem to do is try and drag this country down, and then beat it while it's down.

Take pride or take a ride.

Im a sportsman, ive been involved with a few events relating to the games and have been totally underwhelmed by it. As someone who wanted to be at the games I didnt want to put them down but so far think that our efforts have been pathetic. Then we go onto the funding side of things and finding our 2012 star in schools, all the hype and ignorance from people who think a 12 year old will be champion at aged 16 4 years down the line.

The sad fact is 2012 is all people seem to know about, they ignore the fact we had beijing beforehand, commonwealth games, world championships etc etc...:shrug:

You forgot to add: Embrace the further debt to thecountry, embrace the additional taxes to pay for it, embrace the fact that we, the population will gain nothing from it (except for londoners, perhaps) and we should definitely embrace the incompetance and corruption that goes with it ... :shrug:
 
Makes you wonder if everyone will be so negative if we get the World Cup, now that is a waste of money.

Where you can see the start and finish of any race covered rather than getting a glimpse of the athletes at some point on the course. I wonder how much use the Athens stadia have had since their games? Last I saw on Greek news, it was all but derelict.

All we seem to do is try and drag this country down, and then beat it while it's down. The National debt is doing a far better job of dragging this country down than we doubters/cynics (aka realists?) are.

Athens only finished paying for the 2004 games last year, I think there are still contractors who have never been paid for their work. The true cost of building the Athens stadium and infrastructure is estimated to be in the region of 15 billion euros and is one reason for the poor financial state Greece is in today.
 
I'll bet that there are still loads of the mascot souvenirs on sale at hugely discounted prices too - there were last year!

Yes, and embrace the fact that athletics is a minority interest. Should have let Paris have it and save us the expense.

The greek games were badly organised from the start, some countries have profited off of the games. Also a point many people miss is the fact that statistically house prices around the areas of the games boom, so there are some people who benifit.

Its just a shame our games are in one of the scummyest areas of town and we are proud of it, when you have a wealth of musical talent available you still use the local hip hop stars it says it all. Expect alot of division to happen from the games when the ceremonies are about 'culture' and not about english heritage.

ah well, yes you see, the good people of Richmond would much prefer an Olympic Stadium to a deer park, or perhaps Stamford Bridge should be bulldozed and stick a velodrome there instead [actually, I have had worse ideas :naughty:]

Oh yes, and I am sure the people of East London who have tried to live good honest lives and look after there own tiny patch of real estate dont want the area redeveloped under any circumstances.....better to be scummy eh?!? :bonk:

However, such blanket prejudice statements aside, I would would much prefer to have let the French have the expense, it strikes me that the whole Olympic thing is snouts in troughs that the country as a whole, and Londoners in particular, will be paying for for a very long time. Having paid for it though, I HOPE we do it well, I hope they are memorable and good....but if those mascots are anything to go by.... :help:

It's going to cost 13 billion pounds, for 13 billion pounds we could have written **** off Germany on the moon :D
