Olympia Conference Centre? - Lighting?

Has anyone shot anything (conventions, etc) at Olympia?

I've shot conventions at Earl's Court before which has horrible tungsten light so was worried about the white balance but just found out that Olympia has a massive glass roof. Wondering if it diffuses the light much or if it's sunny is it horribly bright?

If you're shooting raw, is there a need to worry about WB when you can easily adjust it in Camera Raw? JPEG, now thats another matter - you might just have to take some sample shots and adjust from your lcd viewer depending on whether you're getting natural light mixed with some tungsten or fluorescent. You could always, if you have the time and space, take a WB card if you want to get the temperature bang on and do a custom WB in camera against it.

I'm not that worried about the WB due to raw as you say (but wondered if the speedlite would need gelling?). I'm now more worried about harsh shadows if it's really bright or whether a glass roof would diffuse it much.

In theory yes, but if the right side of their face is being lit by daylight and the left side is being lit by a horrible tungsten light, you can't correct that economically.

The answer is to either create your own light (powerful flashes) or manage your client's expectations by pointing out that the lighting there is horrible and is likely to create false colours.
