Managed to source an old Yashinon 50mm 1.7 for £19.99 Just tested it for 10 mins and quite happy with the results. Using it on a D700. Although I can change the aperture, it registers as f1.8 on the camera. Am I doing something wrong?
Yeah this - on more modern ML camera you get no aperture confirmation at all. But, with most manual focus lenses you only need look down at the lens itself to see what aperture you're at
Can't beat a good bargain, keep meaning to get me some nice quality but cheap old lenses to play with. I have just gotten a Nikon 60mm 2.8D macro lens that I'm adapting to Fuji, so all MF, but that's not so cheap really.
Tried the same lens on my D500 - downloaded images and the only option is COLOUR or MONOCHROME. The D700 seems to cope better with exposure, almost spot on requiring little editing. Same subjects photographed.
