I'd forgotten how shallow the Dof was on this.

cracking shot.... love the bokeh and the super sharp eye....

Great sharpness but then that is with some dream kit 1DmkIV & 300mm 2.8 Mmmmm lovely :)

Wonderful shot. Even the tail feathers are OOF which means there was a lot of effort into getting that focus right.

Was this one of many?

Yep, we have a dozen or so chaffinches in and around the garden :-)

 that's a classic.

great start to the challenge  I heard part of the challenge was you had to use less than £10k's worth of kit though :D

Great opening shot..

Thats a great pose, made me chuckle :)

Love day 3.....lovely and sharp...love the pose.....

I agree, the shot of the squirrel is incredible.

Another craking longshot there. How you manage to get that focus so spot on is beyond me.

Love the pose the squirrel has.

The squirrel............I think he was startled as I'm usually chasing them away, thanks for the comments.

Nice dof....

To be super critical the blown top left corner is distracting....

JIM!!!..... SQUIRREL!!! ....sooooooooooooo cute.... 'please sir...can i have my nuts back..?'

day 4.. it does look like the top left is missing altogether...

nice work with the 50mm Jim. That's the thing with shooting wide open - you need to experiment with loads of different angles to see which gives the best dof / bokeh etc.. Love the texture of the straw, but the white corner is very strong.

Point taken about the top left hand corner, that was the colour of the sky yesterday so perhaps I should have cropped it out.

Nicely exposed....

Wonder what this would look like with a shallow dof on the statue ?

I did try it at f/1.8 but I felt my other shots are all wide open so I thought I'd make this one different. It's not exactly the same postion as it's hand held.

Nice work
Personally i prefer the last one @ 1.8

I much prefer the last f1.8 one too.

Who is that statue meant to be? It looks like Mike Smith, DJ/tv presenter from a while ago!

My vote for 1.8 as well.... :-)
