Dear Dumbo,

(Touch Wood) I have never had a problem with BT.

Hope it's a better day tomorrow.

Oh dear someone is having a bad day :(
(LOL at Bob though)

Flickr is being a right royal PITA at the moment, its not you.
They are have serious issues.
(There are quite a few threads around TP about the subject)
And all because they want to change things about for the good of the general public?
Pah!

Not had a problem with BT so far either, and had to ring them for a friend today and can't fault them for a change
As for flicker, no poblems there either, and I can still flick between the old and new version

That definitely sound like some sort of fault on the line. As a matter of course I would suggest replacing ALL micro filters and making sure you have one on EVERY device connected to a phone socket.

But if it still keeps dropping it could be excessive noise on the line or faulty line and/or exchange kit. Sky should be able to get BT (remember sky is off the back of leased BT network) to run diagnostics and/or get an engineer on it. Granted they may not be able to do much about the speed, that may be limited by the cable run between you and the exchange.

It's certainly not "normal" for a sky adsl service to drop. Mines easily been the best service over 3 properties (even with VM available in our current property). Their CS is normally solid too.

All that said be aware that BT have massive backlogs as a result of damage done by the weather. We've been waiting 2 months for a BT line to be installed in London (just had one done in Manc with no wait time so suspect it's just an issue in the south) and just had to wait 3 weeks for an engineer to come to site in the south west for a fault.

Sky have their own backhaul from the exchanges, which had capacity issues in some areas last year (possibly still has?).

Thanks for all the info there Neil, according to Sky there's nothing wrong, my thoughts are as we live in a village and at the end of it, as in our road is just a horseshoe, maybe the BT line is poor, they have been doing some work of late in that "big box of wires" (best way I can describe it) so maybe things will improve.
If 2 of us are trying to use the internet it goes painfully slow...very frustrating!

Thank you everyone. Neil i am doing some tests and have to report back to them but it seems ok during the morning then goes belly up.. we shall see what happens.
