Somehow I have broken my left wrist (no sniggering at the back :D), it's the recurrence of an old injury and about the ninth or tenth time I've done it. I think it happened when I picked a bag up last week, I felt a sharp pain and knew almost straight away what it was. I've refused a cast as it is a major pain in the arse and I'd only end up cutting it off after a week or so plus I'm off to Milan next week for a few days and didn't want the hassle.

Just needed to vent.

Oh testicles indeed Colin!
Sorry to hear about it ( are you sure it was just picking up the bag BTW is there anything else you would like to share with us?<snigger, snigger> :D
Hope it dioesn't hamper you too much in Milan ( I hope you are right handed? )

Tough break that Colin, oops sorry.
Seriously, hope it dos'nt mess up hols

ouch!

I think you will find that large quantities of brandy will help with the pain. Taken internally, of course.

Bad luck there. Did you do this to get out of carrying the bags in Milan!!

I thought you broke your wrist:D

Seriously tho, hope it heals quickly and doesn't mess up the holiday.

At last I have found someone else that has taken off their own cast! I got into loads of trouble when I was a teenager after I took off my own leg cast because I didn't agree it was broken! I can still remember my parent's shock and horror!!

Could it possibly be breaking so often because your not letting it mend properly? I agree though broken arms/wrists/hands are an absolute nightmare!

picking up a bag!
anyone we know? :naughty:

seriously
hope it mends soon
just take it easy
lots of medicinal fluids to ease the agony
lucky it wasn't your snapping hand (you are right-handed?!?)

You can get buckle on jobs now can't you?

How flippin big was the bag ? ;)

Oh b****r.

I had a problem with one of my fingers. I think I have broken it about 8 times so far. It'll fall off next time i swear!

I once broke a finger putting my trousers on !! :)

Oh man, I can empathise with you Hacker. I've broken my left wrist 4 times now, the last time it broke simply cause I shut a door hard (holding the handle). I break mine on the bone leading from my thumb to my wrist (if that makes sense) what about you?

Could have been worse. Might have been your right hand.:D
99 . . . . .

I can relate to your "knowing that it's happened" scenario. I broke my thumb in English way back in high school one day and I've broke it 14 times since then. The first time it was hanging on by a thread, I got it trapped between two chairs that were moving simultaneously in opposite directions.

It was a conspiracy, I'm sure.

Ouch, sorry to hear about the break, Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Alex

speedy recovery from me as well, but im sure it looks well sus with a broken wrist ;)

Thanks for all your concern!

Unfortunately what I've broken is the scaphoid which is a small bone inside the wrist and has a poor blood supply so it rarely heals properly and the weakness is always there.

You can get buckle on jobs now can't you?

Thanks Steep, I've found a brace type of thing with velcro and a rigid underside which helps to keep it immobilised but can be taken off for a shower etc.

Just a small rucksack :shake: but it twisted as I picked it up and ping!

Sounds like exactly the same, the scaphoid is at the base of the thumb (ish) and is usually broken in sports or car accidents when you you have an impact on the palm near the thumb, mine was first done in a car accident when I braced myself against the steering wheel.

....and I've broke it 14 times since then. The first time it was hanging on by a thread, I got it trapped between two chairs that were moving simultaneously in opposite directions.

Ouch, ouch and triple ouch!

Hand injuries are the worst, sounds strange but you really don't realise how much you use your hands until you can't.

I dislocated my thumb playing football a couple of months back. I put it back myself and played on........... wasn't till the post match shower that i realised that it hurt like mad and was severly swollen. I could not even do up my own shoe laces!! And its still not right now.

Sounds funny but when i've broken bones the doctor always tells me to up my milk intake, something to do with the calcium methinks..

Oh poor you Colin, that's a tough one.

If you have any form of private health insurance it might be worth you considering having some laser treatment on it to maybe promote better healing. That's the route the speedway guys usually go down and Scaphoid is probably the second most commonly broken bone in the sport after the collarbone.
