I know there are loads of threads similar and I have looked at them but they didn't really answer my question.

I have a D3100 and I'm going to buy a Yongnuo yn560 after reading good things about it, and at that price you can't go wrong. Anyway I would like to get the flash of camera and I wouldn't really be wanting to use it as a slave. I understand I would need a wireless trigger but I really don't want to be spending a lot. What can I get without going wrong, I done a search on eBay but there are loads of different ones. As I said I don't want to be spending anything much really.
Thanks in advanced!

I don't know nikons but for distance I use rf602's. New ones are 603 which are combined rx/tx.
These don't pass ettl through though, so you have to set the flash levels manually, but they are cheap.

Do you have to have a 3.5mm sync lead to use these or is it straight on the hotshoe?

Thanks

So it's between the PT-04 and the Yongnuo rf-602?

Well there are many out there but the one I suggested beats the professional model, matches your flash and is a crazy bargain....
Hell for £25 you could buy it as a backup....
