Anyone point me in the right direction for this area of photography please. I have an SB600. You tube videos? Books?

What kind of sport do you have in mind?

The principles of OCF are simple enough, applying it to sport though - that may be a bit tricky if you mean Rugby or Freediving for instance

Running and cycling. I'm a kinaesthetic learner, can't do instruction manuals very easily. Tried it out at a race last night and found out a few things that I will and won't be able to do, as well as some that were oh so obvious really. It's the shutter speed really. What is the fastest that I can get with off camera flash with the SB600? Thanks for the advice on the cyclist image the other day.

Seeing as we are close neighbours, I'll have to sign up for some training.

Without spending a lot of money to get a flash & triggers that will do high speed sync (so pretty much any shutter speed right up to your 1/8000th max (or whatever)) then realistically your max shutter speed is just 1/250th with cheap triggers if you really need the flash off-camera, and at 1/250th your subjects will show a little movement blur (though you might like this as an artistic look)

However, most of the flash photos you'll have seen in magazines and online that are of cycling and running are most likely ON camera flash, in which case your SB600 should be fine, it then depends on your camera really and obviously your own knowledge of how to use them together

If you really do live close, drop me an email and we can just hook up for a chat sometime. Then, if you really do need training specifically, we can sort that out afterwards - chances are you won't need that for what I think you're wanting to do though :)

You'll probably want to enable high speed sync... it's the "auto FP" option, and use the flash on camera.
