Can anyone recommend an octabox for use with the Elinchrom ranger quadra heads, AND that could possibly be used with a Nikon speedlight via the right adapters/ mounting brackets? I know it can't be too large, but I don't want it to be as it needs to be highly portable for location work.

I also want it to be easy to set up, so something like the Bessel 95cm octa here is ideal http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bessel-Octa...qid=1432722217&sr=8-4&keywords=octabox+bessel

Would this in fact do the job? I'm out of the loop a bit with modifiers and stuff though so it's all getting a tad confusing. Will the Ranger Quadra head just mount straight into that softbox I've linked above? If not what will I need?

Also, could I fix a speedlight into that Bessel Octa (or something similar) using something like this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eggsnow-Bra...d=1432722422&sr=8-4&keywords=speedlight+mount

If not, what would I need, or what could be used?

Cheers!

As a guess, Yes if they're both EL fit.

I wouldn't try to fill such a large box with a speedlight, but if you think you can, try one of these

Thanks Phil

I've happily used a Nikon speedlight in a 60cm portable softbox before (for indoor portraits) so might not be such a stretch for a 95cm octa??

Anyway, the main priority is for the Elinchrom quadra head. I think I've managed to work it out. The Ranger quadra heads are tiny and not very strong. As such I don't think (though hoping someone can say for sure) they can just slot into an octabox or any modifier. I think you need one of these which allows the quadra heads to be used in a wide range of Elinchrom octas/ modifiers

I've no experience of this, but...

Lastolite have an Ezybox II system which you can use their Speedlight bracket for speedlights (obviously!), but you can also add a spigot to this bracket to mount a Quadra head.

HTH

This is what I use - with a quadra head - comes in two sizes, can get grids for them as well. The speedlite bracket allows for up to two speedlites, and you add the spigot to this bracket to use your quadra head just as Tony said. The weight of the softbox is supported by the back ring and the fitting arm and main bracket. If you want to use a regular studio head with it, there are adaptors for your main brands available too.

That's pretty much it and it has the bonus of taking the weight rather than the small Quadra head but it's a pity they ask so much for it.

Cheers guys

I hope I haven't jumped the gun (will look at the Ezybox II system more) but I've gone ahead and ordered

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bessel-Octa...qid=1432722217&sr=8-4&keywords=octabox+bessel

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00PIEVMD2/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item

and most importantly the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra to EL Bayonet Adaptor MkII which will allow broad use of loads of Elinchrom modifiers in future should I need it.

I don't do a huge amount of portrait work/ need this type of lighting often so I'm looking for something quick, portable and easy to use, that isn't too expensive. Should the above I've ordered all work ok together? The Bessel Octabox will fit onto the EL MkII bayonet adaptor, right?

The Bessel uses a standard Elinchrom fitting so it should work fine, I'm curious to see how well that Godox thing will hold a medium sized softbox though.
