I had been planning on purchasing a couple of YN568's with 622's but the system lacks a pass through on the hot shoe. I would like to have a flash on camera for a wedding I have planned (first dance) with one or two remote units. Could do with TTL functionality for convenience on occasion and microwave for peace of mind, especially outdoor. So, what's the most cost effective option? I only have one SB700 at the moment.

Take a look at some of the Godox kit on Amazon, they have a couple of Speedlight's which may suit your needs

The YN622 (not TX) has a pass thru but it lacks the finesse of the TX.
Personally I hand hold the main flash attached to a receiver.

On my phone at the mo so difficult to find alternative s.

I shall do that later, thanks.

That's logical Phil really, I used to do it quite a bit long ago. How easy is that handheld setup to change the power of the remote flashes?

You could get a mini-rc mount to attach your flash to the side of the camera. The TX makes adjustments so easy I'd really miss not having it!

Godox TT685. 2.4GHz system built in, can be commander or slave. Backwards compatible with previous Godox trigger system (or the earlier ones can be upgraded). Wide system w/ inter-compatibility.

Glad I asked, was thinking Yongnuo off hand. Looks like my SB700 will possibly be compatible from a quick review I read, anyone know for sure. Unbelievable value really, if it the system will work with my SB700, £150 outlay is very good indeed.

Just ordered a TT685 with a transmitter and receiver so shall see how I get on with it.

The Godox gear turned up today and I must say that, for the money, I am extremely impressed. I thought the quality of the kit might feel a bit cheap but it's surprisingly good, but more importantly, it works a treat! Seems fairly straight forward to use, had it working quite quickly. Shall experiment further over the weekend.

So for remote flashes at weddings (first dance in particular) is a manfrotto nano stand sturdy enough? What do you use Phil? I'm thinking if they're going to get knocked, it doesn't matter what it is. I should be able to find a designate stand assistant I'm hoping.

I usually use one of these to attach to the DJ gear, or bare stand on a shelf, I always carry a lightweight light stand too just in case it's my only option.
