O2 network crashes

and i was in Norwich today - on o2. No issues.

Bizarre.

No issues until this evening, now it's not working

It's wonked in a weird way. My o2 contract phone doesn't register on the network at all. My Giffgaff one which is also on o2 can ring out to voicemail but gives an unobtainable tone when you try and ring it.

Hamsters have probably drowned somewhere important.

Think of all those teenagers going absolutely frantic as they have to find something else to do at the bus stop! :D

Or women pushing prams and actually looking where they are going!

Been out all afternoon :(

Guess my iPhone is now just an i for a while...

I remember when the Blackberry email problem that caused major problems for them. Could be a major issue for O2

Cheers.

Driving back from Lancaster today and GiffGaff was down. Came back on as I reached Manchester though.

O2 have a conf call at 23:30 so should know more shortly after that...I hope

Last update recieved was at 22:00

"Good evening,

Apologies for the delay in this update email but my call was put back to 9:30pm and the call has just finished. Unfortunately I don’t have any further update on the root cause or resolution time yet, our engineers are continuing to work on this problem on our network that is affecting some of our customers.

Apologies again for the inconvenience this has caused. Please be assured this remains to be given the highest priority possible within Telefonica UK and our network team, I have another call at 11:30pm and will send another update after that.

It's rather worrying if O2 haven't worked out why it has broken yet. It's been hours. Their diagnostic systems should be better than this.

Two iPhones on the same business contract. One works, t'other doesn't. Work that one out??

I've been away from home until 20 mins ago, I thought it was just poor signal giving me problems through the day but now I know why I've had no access unless I managed to log on to a wifi hot spot. :(

Oh well looks like I can go bed but have to be up early great

Latest update...not that good

Good evening,

I have just attended the latest update call and unfortunately the situation remain the same in terms of an update on the root cause or resolution time which I am still unable to provide, our engineers are continuing to work on this problem as a high priority and will do so through the night.

Our standard outage communications process will continue to run throughout the night with updates and I will be on a call at 6am in the morning to obtain the latest update and will forward an update after that.

Apologies again for the inconvenience this has caused.

Just to cause further confusion, I have no network access, the signal strength icon is crossed out, but I have internet access (which is how I'm typing this) but there's no 3G or H symbol on the screen

Seems to come and go with me at the moment. Factory reset my phone thinking that would sort it !!! Lost all my contacts in the process what a pain in the rear! !!

Not worked for me since 5pm yesterday, but just sent a text OK there (and received)...had a '5' signal strength on iPhone before it's died again, seems to be coming and going now eveyr minute or so- maybe something is moving at last....

What will people do when they don't know when their loved ones are on the train or bus

Even worse for people shopping who need to know should they get the large or small tin of baked beans

o2 just announced that network issue now resolved and should be back on track soon.

This is how it always is here, no 02 and no other network either.
Welcome back to the 3rd world

Oh hang on a minute, most of them have mobile phones..

some people are saying switch your 3g to 2g and it then works. explains why my work BB is still working as it uses GPRS.

Works a treat although its taking a while to retrieve any messages floating in the system.

I can now text my wife to say that I have been in work since 7:30 and in that time I have had a coffee and cleaned the dirt from under my finger nails with a paperclip :D

business use? if youre not tied to a desk (field engineer/sales rep) then theyre pretty important.

How did those people exist in the days when the only telephone communication was fixed line provided by the GPO? Being without a mobile phone only takes us back to the situation 20 years or so.

exactly 20 years ago the service from companys wouldnt have been as efficient as today.

for example i imagine people like field engineers got their job list on that morning and then went around and did those. new jobs would wait until the next day. whereas any new jobs can now be emailed/sms/called through to the engineer if they are in the area already or for any urgent calls.
