I have just purchased a Lowepro Fastpack 200 - a bag without any means by which to hold a tripod. My ingenious solution is to affix a nylon strap between two existing nylon straps - providing a horizontal perpendicular to two vertical straps and then 'hang' the tripod off that. There'll be issues vis-a-vis weight but I won't be walking any great distance with it so I'm happy with this as a solution.

Does anyone know where I could source an inexpensive, black nylon strap (thinner the better, preferably side release)?

Do you mean the webbing used to adjust the fit of the bag type stuff?

If so - camping shops should be able to get something for you, or failing that, a luggage shop.

I got a bunch of them when I was in the US for a couple of dollars a pair in WalMart, but of course we don't have them here in the UK unfortunately.

Thanks.

My research has since picked up exactly what I require. A side release buckle and a short length of webbing. I'll make a trip to CCC/Go Outdoors tomorrow because the internet only pulls up webbing in lengths of 50 metres - somewhat akin to overkill.

I don't suppose you (or anyone) knows if webbing is ever made at 9/10mm? I can't find widths below 15mm and I suspect I may have issues pushing 15mm through the gap.

It's definately made at thinner widths - OpTech and standard Nikon camera straps use it. I would think that you may struggle to get anything less than 1" wide in retail stores though.

Another place to try could be a commercial safety store - the kind of place that sells hard hats, hi viz jackets etc...

You might also want to check out the velcro product range at stores like Focus DIY or B&Q. I've found many a useful item in their range for that sort of thing...
