not sure if these have been posted already

That is a great set of pictures, some different angles and use of light.

Thanks for the link.

Some great images in there, like that they provided what camera settings for each image too!

As an aside from his blog post of photos, check out the awesome video he put together with all his unused frames, cleverly entitled "FRAMES".

Want to make an impression as a motorsport photographer - think well outside of the box!

Is that 'normal' to shoot that many frames? I'm stunned, quite frankly, there are what on the face of it relatively straightforward shots there where he must of fired 20-30 frames off.

Not to say that's a bad thing (his portfolio from 2013 is mind-blowing), just unexpected.

Each to their own. I like his style and he's found something that works for him. I know that during the past 12 months I didn't shoot anywhere near to 10% of what Camden shot but he covers so many events that those numbers are huge. I know 10k per event is easily captured.

If you've got the file space, may as well shoot that much, no risks getting it right first time. Might have been waiting for something that might not happen, a flag to align etc.

I would say that is fairly normal to be honest.

Images cost nothing to take, but you can't go back and re-take them. And the cost of replacing a shutter mech in cameras is cheap for a true professional.

I usually shoot 2k images per day per event (give or take)

Over 4 days at the British GrandPrix I shot over 10k

Thanks, genuinely interested as in many ways it's an unusually open and insightful thing for a pro to lay his work bare for all to see, very impressed.

The 1/5th pans in his portfolio are unreal.

I must be slacking, I only took 16.5k images in 2013, across 16 events. Typically these days I'm shooting about 800 per day. I used to shoot a lot more, I guess I'm better at picking out my subjects now. The last three years are about the same number of shots, but 2009 I shot 24k and 2008 it was 27k.

I'd say from his video clip that he hoses a lot of shots, which with a Canon 1D can be an awful lot of shots!

Still running at between 1500-2000 per day each day for 3 days of BSB,gives me something to sort through over winter while there is no racing :D
