Not been a good month for motorsport :(

A guy I went to school with worked as a steward at rally events, and was hit by an out of control rally car. His condition was serious when I last hear about it, but I don't know how he is now.

Terrible shame that something that brings joy to so many people can also bring grief to others.

I construed that to be that my friend knew what he was getting himself into when applying for that job and that any sympathy should be minimal as it was bound to happen...

Which I know is not what you're like but I would just like some clarification :thumbs:
 
I am saying that we all know that this could happen to us :( It is not a nice thought. Just a general view, nothing to do with your mate.

Big props to: primarily the stewards for keeping things as safe as possible, secondly to the race drivers and teams for keeping the sport alive, and the togs who risk their lives to get the shots we all drool over.

If it's anything like over here(Ireland) most stewards at rallies don't apply for the job but are just spectators who have been stewards for years or drivers not rallying,Everyone in motorsport knows the dangers,The possibility of a freak accident,or just a crash in a common place,Safety standards at these events is probably at it's highest ever(just compare rally footage from this years WRC to the 80's,You'll see people running across the track etc) but there's still always the possibility of an injury or a death and it is sad,Over here in road racing many riders this year have lost their lives to the roads a two man team was wiped out this year :(

They're in it for the love and if they die while competing at least they were doing something they love
