As I was doing my usual round of the charity local to where I work, I came across a handful of camera's that still had film in them. Most of them were almost full. The friendly ladies in the charity shop were happy for me to take the film out and see if anything comes up after processing them.

I was wondering why people dont bother to take out the film out?

Also how would it be handled under copyright rules? Does the original photographer own the copyright or would I seeing as I now own the film and had it processed? :rules:

No idea on the copyright, but since the owners gave them away I would assume they gave those rights away also. There are still privacy laws to contend with though, which may be more important here.

You watch, they'll be Ansel Adams' kid's cameras, and those films will be worth at least $200 million.

I did tell the ladies the Ansel Adams find and they nearly fell over from shock. I on the other hand am not expecting such a result, merely curious to see whats on them.

Strictly speaking, the original photographer retains copyright on the pictures they took until the normal date of copyright expiry.

Highly unlikely that you'd be challenged though.

The sort of thing you might expect, perhaps, if you're lucky... http://westfordcomp.com/updated/found.htm

Copyright also applies for up to 70 years after the creator's death.

Imagine if there's something really weird on there though, or a crime! Let us know what happens....

What if you take it to get developed, there is something majorly criminal on there, and you get implicated!

Sorry, I watch too much **** telly. :)
