Yes
Anyone know of any digital photography courses held in Norwich? Been looking at the Open University one but after reading a few threads on here it sounds like it could be abit too basic.

i've been searching on internet for the last hour for something that will fit in with my family and budget!! Keep finding Basic Photography courses but nothing more advanced yet. I'll keep looking. Blyth Jex school apparantely are doing an Evening Course but again sounds basic.

I'am not sure, but i thought Norwich City College done somthing along those lines...

I would also be interested in something like this - again not at a basic level - but I have never found anything suitable locally. For me it also needs to be evenings as the course would have to fit around a full time job.

Just looked at the City College website. BTEC or A/AS level photography - but both appear to be full/day time, and also include an element of film/darkroom use. No disrespect to the people who enjoy film use, but I am digi only now and intend to stay that way!

(Mind you, I still hanker after a LF camera to slooooooooow me down a bit so I concentrate a bit more!)

Snap!!!

City College do a Diploma, need to attend four days a week.
They also do Photography A & As Level, full or part time. The entry requirements made me laugh:

At least five GCSE passes at Grade A*-C. These should include Photography or a related subject such as Art or Graphics. Without one of these, you will need to present a suitable portfolio of photographic work at enrolment.

If there are enough of us local people we should ask one of the photography shops maybe to do a course. I know Jessops do in other parts of the country.

Thanks for the link.
A bit more choice there, but nothing that really seems ideal for me. (I know, I'm fussy!!)

Thanks Rocket, that looks interesting. I must admit that is one place that I have never been to - must drag the daughter there one weekend!

I did a one day workshop at Pensthorpe last November. It was very good, got some excellent shots of owl and dormouse etc. Mike Powles the photographer was brilliant. Great opportunity to get closer to some of the animals and great advice on composition etc. Not so much on how to use your camera but Mike very good at answering questions. Lovely lunch too!!

Thanks Alison, that sounds great. I know how to use my camera, I just need someone/something to force the inspiration back in/out of me.

I went there a few days ago, placed some pictures on here some where, found it very good, although i don't find that much interest in caged animals, but there are nature walks etc, it was an opptunity to learn technics, its good for the children, if you get the chance to go on a week day then it would a better time, not so full with humans.be prepared to spend most of the day there.

Thanks Rocket. Bye the way, how photo-friendly is Pensthorpe for kids? Alison, do you know if children are allowed on the workshop days? Also, are the barriers etc low enough for a twelve year old to take pictures over (or through?)

Sorry to go slightly off topic......

Alison may well be able to reply to this better than I.
But i took my 14 yr old daughter along, and she got some nice images, not sure about the workshop...

Sorry Alison going off the original topic a little..

Hi guys, doesn't matter to me its all Norfolk related!! i would say your twelve year old Tappi would be fine taking photos there, there arn't that many barriers as far as I can remember so she should be fine. As far as I know don't think there was any child restrictions especially if your daughter is 12 and you pay!!!

Heard from the Blyth Jex School where they are doing a beginners digital course on a Tuesday evening 7-9pm for six weeks and its FREE! starting in June.
