I know the Puffins have long since departed, along with many of the other nesting sea birds, but what about the seals and any other wildlife in the area?

I'm heading up on the 20th August for a couple of days and whilst the wildlife isn't my main focus, it may be nice to catch anything that it's still about either on the mainland or on a boat trip to the Farnes.

Any information appreciated.

Hi David heres a link to a blog run by one of the wardens, plenty of information on there.

http://farnephoto.blogspot.co.uk/ Plenty of places to visit nearby. Holy Island (Lindisfarne), Bamburgh, Alnwick The Northumbrian coast is great for photography opportunity's.

regards brian.

PS check out some of the other blogs listed most are up to date on local wildlife.

Hi David, if you're lucky you might spot a red squirrel or two when you're about. As Brian said, there's loads of great places for photographs. I'm not really sure if it's along the lines of what you want to photograph, but how about the wild cattle at Chillingham?

sorry, the link doesn't seem right

Thanks Brian - I don't know what I did wrong with the link.

Ford and Etal are lovely. Chillingham Castle's always worth a look - very quirky, not your normal run of the mill castle

I went on a boat to Farnes on Saturday 5th August. Very few birds. Lots of seals on an island you go past. Boat stopped for photos.

As others have mentioned lots of places to visit very close to that with opportunities to photograph. Bamburgh, Holy Island, Walkworth, Dunstanburgh, Craster, and Amble which is one of my favourites especially for sunsets.

Yes, lots of castles and landscapes on the trip already planned. I've done Farne before for the Puffins and Terns, just wondered what else was left.

Thanks for all the links and advice guys.
