North Yorks Moors Railway

Camping up in North Yorks, Snainton, end of August, holidayed up there alot before but was just wondering if someone could give me the best locations for catching the north yorks moors railway steam trains during their journey. Seen some lovely shots on flickr etc and although I've shot them in the station at Goathland and at a distance on the moors just wondered if there were any particularly good vantage points I don't know about.

Leversham is the place!

Yep, Leversham crossing is good, as is New Bridge. Keeping the railway on your left head North out of Pickering, past the old trout farm and you get to a level crossing. IME the signalman is cool with photographers, I even got a look around the signalbox. Have fun.

Great recommendations thanks, I went to New Bridge this morning and what a fantastic spot for shooting the trains, only thing it was pouring with rain so never got out of the car, took some shots from the car which are okay, not going to put them on here though

Will try and get back there again before we go home and maybe a drive up to Levisham too
