If you are going from Chorley are there good places to see short eared owls? Is the Dee Estuary a good place?

Under normal conditions through the winter but none reported yet ,another month or so .. try searching Lunt meadows sightings

Thanks sadly I will not be there for very long.

I was at parkgate today ,distant marsh harrier best I could do all afternoon . Hopefully if we do get the predicted cold snap it will bring some in . Let me know when your in the wirral / dee estuary area I know some tucked away sites

I went to quite a few places last winter looking for them but was hampered with the lockdown , its my mission this winter to get find some. there's a place on the east coast called Sammys point they are getting them regular I'm even contemplating going there

There where three reported over the weekend on the dee marshes ,hopefully this is the start of a influx will update as I find out more

At the moment to access parkgate ,go into Neston ,there are big signs saying road closed ahead … ignore them and drive down to the front .. you can then either stop or carry on it’s open all the way through . Get to boathouse pub and drive onto the old baths car park .park on the front .there will be birdwatchers and photographers there just ask what’s about .
Boathouse road is the one that’s closed so to get out do that in reverse .. I don’t think you can currently access Burton mere from parkgate either ,,
Another good spot is hoylake sea front at high tide for waders

Thanks for that - do you have any grid references or postcodes so I can find this on a map.
Although I can find Lunt Meadows Nature Reserve on google maps. Saying that I am not sure what is happening now so it might be called off (long story).

Just search on maps for the boathouse pub ,parkgate
