Morning all, not entirely sure if this is the best location for this thread, mods feel free to move it if I'm wrong.

Rcently motorsport photography has been all I've been doing and i fancy trying something different and would like to try my hand at some seascape sunset long exposure type shooting.

I live in Newcastle so am quite close to the coast and want to go for sunset on Friday night but am not entirely sure where i should go. Can people recomend some good locations on the coast that are easily accessible for me on my own with car please?

I'll post back with some examples if any turn out okay.

Thanks,

Robin

St Marys lighthouse always seems to be a poplar choice for these type of shots

Just a note, the Piers (North and South Tyne)are gated and locked on evenings now so dont plan on using them! Other than the locations above I dont know of any others for anything interesting, Possibly Wearmouth.
Are you actually expecting a sunset!!! or even a sun, I might get meself out heheh!

how's about up top of penshaw monument hill? would be a great landscape/sunset shot. maybe see some sun at the weekend hopefully
i was up there a few weeks ago and got some great landscape shots but that was around 9am :cuckoo:

Dunstanburgh castle from the Embleton beach, should give decent shots, agree with Bamburgh and St Marys Island,.

Thanks everyone. Think im going to head up to Dunstanburgh tomorrow night for a look about and if im lucky a ray or two of sun :)

:( That's such a shame. I bet it's some health and safety thing. :bang:

Nobody cares if you climb over the gate after it is locked.

Ive done it many times.

Often fishermen que up waiting for the guy to lock the gate, then they all climb over.

I wonder why they don't just go through before the gate is locked? Or do they wait for the guy to walk round the corner ;)

Knowing my luck I'd fall and smash my camera, or get arrested for trespassing

I hope you mean "Sunrise" shots otherwise you would have been disappointed. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west so any possibilities on the North East coastline would have been missed by about 12 hours or more!

I was going to post that too ;)

Though from the end of the pier you could shoot back towards the land for a sunset over the cliffs.

@Robin Did you get any shots then?

Not if you go to Beadnell harbour. The only one you can face west on I think.

With cross supports on the gate to make it easy to climb over ;)
