Hi,

I've come up against a bit of a brick wall with this one.

A customer has asked for a print approx 17 x 9 inches. It will easily fit on an A3 sheet of paper (16.53 x 11.69 inches) , but my usual printer (DSCL) requires a canvas to be added to the image to fill the paper.

I've done this before in my ancient version of Photoshop but both that, my copies of Affinity AND PS Elements seem to have disappeared with my most recent computer upgrade. ( I never normally use any of them .....:().

If anyone can suggest a suitable solution to this I'd be very grateful!

You'll need to create a jpeg that is the size of A3, with your image placed on it so that you have whitespace around it.

As Dave says - Lightroom is perfect for this with the Print Module - as he says, select the paper size, then select the image size on the paper, and you can position it wherever you like.

If you don't have Lightroom then we probably need to know what software you do have. You could probably do it in Word or Powerpoint at a push but God knows what would happen to the colour management.

If you're completely stuck, I can do it for you in LR and dropbox you the jpeg back.

You can specify paper size and image size and 'print to file' (jpeg only?) in Lightroom.

I hadn't thought of using the print module but when I do the maximum print size I can get is 11.54 x 8 ins (for some reason?) so it appears cropped.

I'm using Lightroom; I thought it must be something to do with paper size but can't find a selection for it. Will keep searching!

Many thanks both for your replies.:clap::clap:

It's like one of those times when you've been searching for something for ages, ask someone if they've seen it, and you see it yourself immediately! However does that work?

Anyway, I've learned something new this afternoon and you can't say that every day.
