Hi, I was talking to a friend the other day and he mentioned that his CS3 is very good as it incorporates non destructive editing and i would see a vast improvement in the picture quality over my Elements 7, Now i'm not so sure as i thought Elements 7 used non destructive editing especially when you open the image and edit using layers and masks and also would CS3 improve my image quality over 7...Hmmmm!

Your friend may be talking tosh. :) Aslong as you use layers your editing is non-destructive, innit.

If you use the same method there should be no difference between the versions, the secret with non distructive editing is to use ajustment (or duplicate layers) then your not affecting your original, provided you save with layers intact as PSD or TIFF. If your starting with raw your originals already safe because the changes don't affect the original just the way you "see" it

Lightroom does non destructive editing, because it stores a list of changes to apple to the raw file. Photoshop CS3 and Elements work in exactly the same way as eachother.
