Hi, for some reason I can't assess wifi on my laptop (Acer) running Windows 8. I've never had an issue before.

I can assess wifi on iPad and wife's laptop.

I've gone through several online 'how to' tutorial without luck.

Main issue is when I access the wifi option on the screen, the wifi 'switch' can't be flipped. The flight mode switch can be used.

This is the switch I mean linky

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Fn + F3 seems worth a try.

Mine is F2, but on my daughter's laptop there is a push button switch on the side.

Which specific Asus laptop is it?

Well. I've bought an Ethernet cable.

Not sure what's happened, virus maybe, but I've lost loads if software, including Photoshop and Lightroom and I've no idea where the software is. Ggrrrr.

Thanks for the help

Mouse to bottom right corner, settings, check airplane mode isn't on as that might explain WiFi not working. For aoos vanishing? Weird. Perhaps you've just unpinned the shortcut from the start screen? Press windows key to jump to start screen and type "light"... And see if lightroom appears.
If it does you may just need to pin the shortcut back. On 8.1, swipe up from start screen for a list of all installed apps, right click to pin to start?
