No
Jonny's try is politics to the max! His foot is clearly on the floor prior to grounding the ball. Scotland ripped off again!

King.

You were losing anyway so Johnnys' try is inconsequential.

no-one saw it......:D

OK - have those 7 points back. In fact, add them to the Scotand total :)

Thats one way of looking at it. But the way I see it is that its his first game back in,... how long now? What a great marketing tool to have a try and have converted by yourself too. Really, I feel it boils down to publicity and money.

.... And his amazing kicking ability... his insightful view of the game... his delivery... cohesive force.... spirited performance.... after 1200 days without an England shirt!

14 others really played their hearts out too .....

(I'm not biased against Scotland either .... I just adore the game!)

You might have a point there King - but really, its just so damn good to see England play a game with passion again. Their silly errors were down (not gone by a long shot, but improving) and they looked like a side that believed they could win.

Not quite in the 2003 groove, but if they continue like this, I'll enjoy watching them again instead of hiding behind the sofa

Error rate is down but professional fouling is still there. A lot of the penalties made by England today were, by the looks of it, out of pure spite. Thats something they need to stop doing as this drives other nations towards disliking them.

But it is good to see them return to their previous glory days. Looking forward to see them up against Ireland (I'm Irish). That will be a good game.

No question about it, no it wasn't a try, but at the end of the match it made not the blindest bit of difference did it! Also it was hardly Jonny wilkinson's fault that it was given - what do you expect the man to do? Go running over to the ref and say "Please sir - that wasn't a try, please strip my team of the points you've just awarded us!" No - don't see that happening somehow do you!

professional fouling is still there.

Agreed, but this is not limited to England and the worst exponents are: Australia, South Africa, France, England, NZ, Argentina, Italy, Wales, Ireland, Scotland - in that order.

Agreed, but I think you are missing the point.

Picture an RFU marketing director sitting behind the TV official with a suitcase of money waiting for that perfect bribe moment. Thats where I am coming from, not blaming the player. I cant help but feel that rugby is being more and more influenced by the money hording suits upstairs.

In our "Scotlands" defence we very rarely win away from home.

All the wins since 1984 have been at home

2006 - 18 - 12
2000 - 19 - 13
1990 - 13 - 7
1986 - 33 - 6
1984 - 18 - 6

Was a good game though, and I will stick my neck out and say the best team............. won :D

and the try (if it was) would have made no difference.

the umpire or whatever you rugger types call him considered it a try so a try it is. It is just the same in cricket and many other sports. the guy with the finger or whistle or whatever has the final say - right or wrong.

Live with it, get over it and move on or it will ruin your game.

Can't stand the game, myself. I only watch a match on tv when there is a fair chance that England will stuff either the french or the northeners. And I have retained my 100% record :D

By the way, whilst we are on the topic of dodgy decisions. Who are the only team to get through to the Euroean Cup Final having not scored a goal in the semi?

I'll tread wisely, the best team doesn't play until tomorrow and they don't play in green :)

We'll see. We still have the tripple crown, and plan on keeping it ;).

King.

PS: They better win after that comment ;)

Woohoo, we won,..! :)

Great game to watch either way it went.

King.

i don't think on the day Scotland would have won the game but i can't believe the Video ref gave a try he must have needed a white stick to find the tv, madness, never a try.

Come on England!

I have no idea what any of this is all about. All I know is pass the ball backwards.......and fall over a bit.

Sounds erm........interesting though :|

Well just watched it on youtube and IMO its a try.

EDIT: 2nd look and maybe not but you can see why it was given. Not exactly something obviously clear.

It is when the video ref has a replay with 3 different camera angles he can replay however many times he likes. I can appreciate the ref on field or the linesman missing it but the video ref, inexcusable, thats the whole point of his job.

There is a large print in one of the national newspaper, great shot (think its a photo or could be still from clip) but it clearly shows his foot is well grounded. The ball is a good foot and half from being grounded too.

I am going to stick by my guns here and say its down publicity, money and marketing.

King.

If it was down to publicity, money and marketing, then it is haveing the wrong effect, as for some, it appears to be over shadowing the game.

Which is poor marketing, I therefore would have to disagree with you King. Sorry, just doesn't make sense. Then again somethings don't.

Just great to see Jonny playing again and England winning, such a relief.

Oh, I do agree it wasn't a try though.
