No idea where those extra inches came from!

Yes
Just tried some clothing on, that missus bought me for Xmas. Clothing is far too small, but she deffo ordered my size. Checking the label and the label does say 34in, she even measured the clothing, and yes it is 34in. She measured me, and it is me that is the problem. I am now a 38in waist. At the beginning of the year, my missus measured me and I was a 34in waist. So she bought me a size 34in pair of jeans, and they fitted me perfectly. Scary how those inches creep up, un noticed.

I am certainly thinking about changing my diet, and more exercise. :)

Silly thing is, I was twelve stone at the beginning of the year, but eleven and a half stone right now. Just wondering, how can I be lighter but have a bigger belly?

Have you measured yourself?

It seems to be increasingly the case that manufacturers sizes are no more than an estimate.

Edit

Sorry, I have just read your OP more carefully

I think if I lost half a stone (I’m usually just over 13 stone) my existing trousers would be noticeably looser around my waist, I can’t imagine why you have added four inches.

Do your existing trousers not fit at all now?

I'm finding that my wife keeps shrinking all my clothes.

It probably began with the term "deffo".

Missus always does my measurements, she has been to dress making and sewing classes etc. So she is always bang on, with sizes. It is just me, I really am a fat git. :$

Sudden shift in weight pattern is probably worth seeing a GP over. If you have lost physical weight but somehow gained 4 inches around the waist then that's a bit strange.

Probably, even Deffo - nitely ;)

Must admit, I always wear elasticated waist stuff now. Just checking some of my old stuff and yes, some is really tight now. Maybe I just need to tone my belly, I am letting it flop and sag. If I did exercises, such as sit ups, I would probably be the same weight, but have a smaller waist, due to my stomach being held in better. I have obviously become a slob. :$

Maybe just lazy belly muscles, my legs are reasonably toned, just not my belly. :)

Or his tits are drooping!!! :P

Muscle is denser than fat, if the OP is losing muscle tone and putting on fat that's what happens.
Oh dear, is that what's happening to the OP? The OP, I mean I need to get out and exercise more. ;)

Actually, I have reasonably good chest, for such a fat bellied git. Best features, shoulders, chest, bum and legs. Worst features, belly and neck, both a little on the fat side. :D

Slowly and subtly. That's how weight can pile on. It happened to me after I managed to lose about three stone in weight. Got married and slowly put on about 1.5 stone back on over the course of two years. I've made an effort this year and lost about half a stone. Getting one more stone off seems much harder. I don't have as much time for exercise any more because of a change in work patterns so I'm trying to focus on diet.

With me it is not the weight, just things flopping and sagging. I think it is probably a case of toning things up, something I keep meaning to do. I really do need to sort out a fitness regime.

As pointed out above, weight loss and increased abdominal girth would point to loss in muscle mass and gain in fat.

I’m looking into body weight fitness.

It might also point to muscle wasting and ascites from a tumour, so worth getting checked.

Jesus, Happy New Year John! lol

That too. It's unlikely, but I've lost 2 friends to cancer, one of whom was proudly showing off how much weight he'd lost (he & his large wife were dieting) only for the 'success' not to be connected to the diet.

I'm increasing weight and width so I must be ok?

I have become a little lazy over the years, and I have not really taken care of my health, as much as I should have. But recent things happening, and the new changes it will bring in my life, means my lifestyle will be different. Some of the new changes that will happen, have come sooner than I thought. Anyway, wishing everyone all the best, for the new year.

I know a very good remedy for you lot. A few actually. 1. Wild camping and climbing in Scotland for 2 week. 2. --"-- in the Alps. 3. Army bootcamp.

No 2 works very well from personal experience.

I've reached the age where wild camping really isn't my friend any more, and suspect that's true for plenty of others too. I'd just rather watch how much I eat and increase exercise post-Christmas. :)

I’ve acquired about 10/11 lbs over the last few months, no longer have our big dog to walk so I’ll need to exercise myself more, wife has decreed that there will not be another dog unfortunately.
