Is it ever okay not to have a ball in shot when taking a photo at a football match of the players?

Here's one I took on Sunday, I'm in two minds about it, thoughts anyone?

Yes..its a rule made to be broken.. Works sometimes but rarely for actual action and not in this case I am afraid

Looks like the old "where is the ball" competitions...

As frustrating as it is sometimes when the ball has escaped but you have good expressions, personally I would have deleted this.

Crop the extraneous bits from each side and it might make a good caption shot.

It's the goal crossbar in the background that spoils the photo.

for me, I've been told off for not following that rule and I have to say, I agree with it. without the ball there is no immediate context (yes I know it's a football match )
