I have a Di866MkII and a Di622 MkII (along with an SB600) - Nikon fit. I had hoped the Di622 (plus others) would do as a substitute for multiple CLS slaves, but it appears the Di622 comes assigned to Ch1 Grp A. So I'm assuming they are all like this? Or is it possible to get one with a different Ch/Group assignment?
 
the di622 is only wireless on channel 1 A.

I have both nissins you mentioned for canon but am thinking to get a transmitter (ST-E2) then i can use the 866 as a slave as well as the 622 and get to use multiple channels.
 
Does the Di866 work as a controller on the Canon system? I don't know the price of Canon flash units, but, if it does, why not get another (e.g. used) Canon slave?
 
I am using the 866 as the master, but seems a shame to use the powerful flash on camera and low power one as the slave! a cheap transmitter means i could use both on different channels or both on same chanel as more powerful light for use in bright daylight :)
