Hi
I am looking to invest in a nissin di866 mkII as a second flash, i am just wondering if they are any good, considering the price difference between one of these and an sb900/910
Has anyone used one for off camera flash and if so what did you think?

Iv'e had one since xmas, and have used it both on and off camera a few times and it seems a good bit of kit, easy to understand ...easy to use.... and of a reasonable build standard..I would buy another one should the need arise.

I got the Nissan 622 mk2 at Xmas and found it verŷ useful. Works TTL on camera and manual off camera. Seems to be well built and time will tell...

I have an 866 mkII and two 622 mkIIs; very happy with all of them. I use mainly Nikon CLS to control them (works brilliantly), but have also used Yongnuo 603 triggers (also work well).
The 866 is better in all respects than the 622 with the exception of battery life...I find the 866 runs out within a days shooting (interiors, perhaps a couple of hundred flash cycles at a guess, depending on battery type and flash power of course); the 622 seem to last much longer due to their lower power.
If you have the budget for a single SB900/910 you could by all three of these Nissin flashes and have a multiple setup; if you only need one flash I'd stick with the Nikon.
Definitely thumbs up for the (mkII) Nissins though.

Thanks guys it has been great to hear the feedback - i think it will be in my shopping bag very soon for my 2nd flash :)

Where have people been buying from. Any recommendations, especially eBay sellers - HK, China ?

Photo Plus has just rated the Di866 ahead of the Canon 320EX and 430EX II.

If you do then your warranty won't be valid in the UK. Kenro require you to send the unit back via your retailer.

Hardly surprising, it's designed to compete with the 580EXII. The 622i is the 430's equivalent.

I think most that try the di866 mk2 will be pleasantly surprised. Not only is it feature packed, it is also very nicely made.

Yes, there are better flashes available but, for the money, this flash takes some beating.
