I've just bought a Nissin Di622 MkII for my Canon 60d and it doesn't work on auto, in fact it doesn't seem to communicate with the Camera settings at all. According to the instructions it should just turn on and work. I'm a missing something, do I need to Sync it in?

I had the same problem with a MkI on a 60D and 650D but according to the Nissin website the MkII is compatible with the 60D straight out of the box but the MkI needs a firmware update. Make sure the flash is turned onto auto and not been turned onto manual or wireless by accident (button 11 above the flash level indicators). If you still have no joy then get in touch with Nissin just to make sure it doesn't need a firmware update. Good luck with it.

I have decided to return it and spend the extra money on the Canon 430EX, that is two bad experiences I have had with third party Lenses.

I've just spoken to a friend who has a 60D and a Di622 MkII and it seems that yours did have a fault with it. He put his on straight after inserting the batteries and after 1 test fire with the rear button he's been shooting away like mad with it. I'm going round to try it on my 7D tomorrow to see how it gets on with it but I don't expect any problems.

The Canon 430EX will be even better with your 60D though, I used a 580EX II with my 60D and it was more easily controllable than the Nissin Di866 which worked very well with it, but not as good as the Canon flash.
