Hi. Posted a plea for help on the 5D MkIII Thread, but in hindsight wondered if it would get seen!?!

Anyway, problem is that I can't get my Nissin Di622 flashgun to flash, whether connected via hotshoe or via sync cable.

Is this a known issue and is there a workaround please?

BTW: It works fine on my 40D and daughter's 400D.

There is a compatiblity chart on the Nissin website, I can't see the 5D Mk3 listed on it.

As above not compatible with the new generation of camera's. The Nikon one doesn't work with the D800,D600 either. This is the downside of buying third party gear.

I think the only way to get it working would be to have the firmware updated. I had the same problems with my 60D and the wifes 650D. You have to send them off to get the firmware updated as you can't do it yourself though.

I can confirm the Di622 MkII and the Di866, MkI and MkII, all work properly on the 5D3 and the 60D and 650D as I have tried them. I ended up selling my Di622 MkI and updated to the Di866 MkII and it's a fantastic flash.

Not quite what I wanted to hear Stuart but sound advice, thank you. It looks like it's time to upgrade to a MkII then.

Actually, just another thought...

...I wonder if the MkI will trigger via the MkII?

I've got some Studio Lighting already, but this could provide a more mobile option 'on location'.

Has anyone tried slaving a Di622 MkI off of a Di622 MkII?
