Hi All,

Been reading on here a while but not posted before, so a brief bit of background: I'm fairly amateur but putting in as much effort as I can ;)

So, this may be a dumb question, but I'm stumped by it. I'm trying to fire my Di622 flash as an optical slave. If I use the built in flash on the camera (D60 or D700) it fires no problem whatsoever. If, however, I try and fire it using one of my other various flashes (all fairly basic and rubbish, ranging from a 50 year old point n shoot add on type, to a 15 year old Cobra) it simply won't fire, no matter what power setting or distance it is from the 'master' flash.

I assumed that it was the burst of light that made the Di622 fire, is this not the case?

The Di 622 is only compatible with modern flash units using ttl metering. They ignore the first pre-flash and fire off the second flash. You need the Di 622 mark 2 to be able to use it from flashes with no pre flash.

I'm having a similar problem- what's the difference between the Mk I and II? Just the not needing a pre-flash?
