Well, I thunk, and didnt have to do it too long or hard, strain any brain cells, or require a sugar kick to come up with an idea. Todays weather was inspiration enough.

So the next theme is SPRING

Interpret the word of the theme any way you wish. As with previous themes, I have tried to chose something that everyone can do, be it from the comfort of their living room, or venturing out further afield.

Usual rules [which I have now remembered :bonk: ] - pic should be taken within the time limit of the comp - ie, from now til next sunday at 8pm. Please post them between thurs 8pm and sunday 8pm [19th and 22nd], and maximum 3 entries per member.

Good luck everyone, looking forward to some interesting and imaginative takes on this one

hmmm  that's a wide choice.

Okay it seems I go first as I missed last weeks challange I thought I'd get in early this week.

Spring to me is the time of year when mother nature wakes up after the long winter sleep.

Yv, I know I should think outside the box, but at this time of year I have a one track mind. Sorry.

Here are a couple taken in my garden today. I may replace them if I get something better tomorrow.

The spring sunshine has brought the violets out...

Wood Anemone, sometimes called Windflower, one of the earliest spring flowers.

Wahay!, just got back, got some nice and some different shots in the bag, too many really as there are a few I would like to post after processing. Left home at 7.30, got back about 10.30.

Will post them up later as there is one more shot I would like to attempt before I post.

Here are my efforts for this week, I tried to take a couple 'out of the box' type images, but found it very difficult to get something special. I have posted another few images in this thread here as I really enjoyed the topic and it certainly made me think about how to get something different. Five of the images I have shown were taken between 07.30 and 10.30 this morning including driving about 25 miles each way, with the sixth taken between 12.45 and 13.15.

No 1, Reel Spring, (EF 100mm macro with 50mm f1.4 reversed on the front taken at f4 to give an abstract image, spring measures about 6mm stretched).

No 2. Dupath Well Chapel, A covered spring that has been used for batisims and had a structure put over it in about 1510. Taken at 12mm on FF, flash used to light the interior, it is quite dark in there!

No 3. Catkins, a spring favourite, although they took some finding!

It really was a pity we were limited to only three images, as I liked (for one reason or another) all six of the images I would have entered if it had been allowed.

One more conventional interpretation of the word "spring" :)

Oh well, was hoping for a few more entries, but there is a real feeling of an impending nature-fest in here. Nearly all the shots inspire an anticipation of long sunny days, bumble bees, baah-lambs and early morning walks. Well done everyone for getting out there and having a go, its what this is all about

So for my chosen few.

In 3rd place, with blossoming trees and people enjoying the sunshine, is BeHappy  :3rd:

In second place is something I was hoping would feature more highly, an alternative take on the theme, but this one really works for me, abstract and yet obvious and very well shot, well done Ed  :2nd:

However my winner is a shot that just sums up the true emotion of 'spring is in the air', a real bouncy, emotive shot, well captured and nicely processed, the mono conversion actually helps with the whole feeling. Excellent stuff Anna, brilliant shot, gorgeous light and a super interpretation of the theme :woot: :1st:

Congratulationas Annao, a worthy winner and a great shot.

Chuffed with my second place, didn't know whether to include the 'out of the box' pics or not as I really liked my lamb image (had lamb for tea tonight too) and my blossom bud, but I felt that I wanted to try to portray all three types of spring so they just had to be binned. :'(

Well done BeHappy with your 3rd spot  and thanks again to all who entered.

Now Anna, it's over to you for next weeks topic!

Congratulations Annao, a worthy winner and a great shot

Well done Ed and BeHappy,

I missed this week I was going to do rusty springs but the ones I shot looked a bit of a muddle, look forward to the next challenge

Congratulations Annao! Pony shot is great and original

Wow, thank you everybody! and congratulations to Ed and Be Happy, i just love spring:)

Now for the difficult part....what to choose for this week

Well done Annao, that picture's brilliant :)

There were some really good ones this week!

I'll do my best to enter the next one :)

Well done Anna, congrats to the runners up

Cracking shot Annao well done you deserve your win.

Well done Annao...that Pony shot is just lovely
