Is anybody like me struggling to get hold of a Nintendo Wii ?

I have just secured myself one as an import from a German trader. I sent him my details. He called me and spoke perfect English. We did a deal. I paid him. He dispatched it immediately the funds cleared. He has sent me the courier tracking number and it is on it way.

It's not cheap but equally it's not as expensive as E-Bay. I have not had to chase around shops or mess around with the hit and miss nature of bidding on e-Bay just to make e-Bay or its traders richer from the farcical supply situation. Most importantly of all, I can guarantee I have one for my kids on Xmas day. For me that's priceless.

I will only need to use a plug convertor (£3 from Maplin) and I have got 2 years full EEA warranty instead of a 1 year UK warranty. I have got English manuals from the Ninetendo website even though I think they are multi-lingual with the machine and the game anyway.

Anyway, if anyone is GENUINELY interested in acquiring one for their kids, he still has 10 in stock which he is willing to export. The price is circa £230 / 320 Euros. If you are interested and are seeking to buy it for yourself, please private message me and I will give you the contact details.

I assure you I am not making any money out of the recommendations. I'd just like to help anyone else in the same situaton.

On the face of it this looks like spam, but you never know. I don't quite understand the shortage. Overclockers.co.uk are selling them with wii sports and it looks like they have them in stock and have done for ages. Is everyone looking for the basic package?

Well you sure can't find 'em in the US. It is what I wanted for Christmas, yes me and not my son. But oh well maybe for the Anniversary!

My daughter bought one a few weeks back when Amazon had stock for an hour or so :)

She watched the MSE forum where people post availability.

site seems to be struggling lately!

They are getting harder to get. Amazon have stopped UK customers from buying them from their French and German sites - even though you can buy anything else from them, including Wii games !

Many other European sites are now either sold out or refusing to supply to the UK to protect supply for their own markets.

Good old EU eh....

Typical Xmas time yet again where otherwise widely available stuff suddenly becomes scarce.

You could always pop over to France for a day trip or weekend! I brought my Nikon D70 over there when I couldn't get one over here at all.

I don't think the Wii has ever been widely available. I eventually managed to reserve one at an Argos in the next town after searching for one for months - this was back in April I think.

It was the same problem last Xmas with the Wii, then miraculously, once Xmas was over and done with, they were everywhere. My BF got his shortly after last Xmas. It was the same story with the Xbox 360.

I started looking in August and other than extremely inflated prices on Ebay have been unable to find one in stock anywhere. I'm always an hour late and $300 short!

I got mine last February, just walked into Virgin at about 4 pm and got one. They had a few in on the shelf too.

Up to last Saturday our local Asda had them in only 1 per customer not checked today but will be in there tomorrow will take a look and let any one interested know:thumbs:

I'm kind of gutted that I sold mine for £130 with a game :( I'm talking like ... 1 month ago when this craze wasn't so bold.
Saying that, My brother did suck up the remote reader thing and it stopped working. But that's hardly the equivalent of what I've lost out on.

******!

Wii's this year aint gonna happen

Just walked into 'Game' about 3 months agao and bought one.
Sold it on ebay a few months later when there was a shortage ;) :D
Might get another after Christmas when they're easily available again and Mario Galaxy and Metroid are available cheap 2nd hand. :)

PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 are all short or unavailable and will be over the Christmas period. Oh joy.

Brought mine about 6 months ago in Woolworths :) Hardly played it.

I was the same mate. The novelty wears off after a couple of injuries and a week of playing. I think I'll stick with my 360 and carry on playing pro evo and fifa.

A mate got his a couple of weeks ago from Argos. They told him they were getting a delivery, so he went down there an hour or so before opening... in and out with a Wii. Job done

i just bought 4 ;)
should have them on ebay by the morning!

We had one go up on the notice board at work today - "as new", 2 sets of controllers, Tiger Woods 2007, Rayman and another game I'd never heard of - £300. Gone within an hour.

My Dad bought my brother one from Spain/Germany, can't remember which. Its strange that there seem to be very few around, STILL!

They are selling them for a bargaintastic £328.99

I got mine last December , the kids were impressed on Christmas morning

Nintendo Wii Console - Lots of Stock.. 179.99 !! (Argos). I also hear that Asda may have some.

Its not just the Wii that is proving hard to find! Iv been trying to get a black Nintendo DS for a present! They are about but not many atall! I can see them all selling out in a week or so!

Checked Argos and ASDA online - nil stock.

nintendo worked out that if you create a shortage, and get people clamouring you will sell more, i bet there is a warehouse stuffed full of the little blighters. My local asda had loads of them on saturday, i bet they still have...

Apparently Nintendo are manufacturing 1.8 million units a month and STILL can't keep up with demand!

Nintendo knows lots of people want a Wii this holiday season. Well, don't worry! They're pumping them out at a rate of 1.8 million a month, which should be far less than demand! Yep, that's 1.8 million for the whole world, not just America.

They really need to open another plant.

Edit: Pipped by a minute! :p
