Nikon View NX2 converting Coolpix A NEFs to blank jpgs

I've just bought a Nikon Coolpix A, and View NX2 is converting the NEFs into blank jpgs.
Landscapes produce a blank green jpg, and B&W converts to a blank black image.
With the landscape jpg, you can just about see that there is a tree in there somewhere.
Printing from the NEFs produces the same blanks.

I've never had this problem with my D3100 NEFs, just this new Coolpix A.
JPGs from the camera itself are ok
JPGs converted from NEF inside the camera are ok.

Any ideas what's up?
