Looking at getting one but wanted to know if anyone's bought the 3rd party copies - are they as good for a third of the price? Any suggestions?

I would have said "yes", until I decided to try using mine with the D300 and SB-900 for a bit of CLS and it wouldn't work

Planning to open it up at some point and see if it's just a broken wire, but I can see a genuine one in my future.

That's my fear - It's something I can see myself using a lot and suppose it may pay to buy Nikon. May even stretch to the SC-29 with the AF illuminator, even if it is £75 or so. Just got fed up with the unreliability of ebay triggers and I need something that'll compliment my SU-4 unit.

I'm always saying buy-cheap-buy-twice, so I'll be eating my own words

An SC-17 is basically the same as an SC-28, but with the older type locking foot. They turn up on Ebay for similar money to the HK copies...

Suppose I cold live without the nice little locking lever. Will have a look for a '17

anyone got any experience with canon ttl cable copies, no sense in buying genuine as I will be cutting it up as soon as I get it :P

meh, it'll be crap but it's foolhardy to hack up a good one, if I want a ttl cable I'll buy genuine if I want a pair of shoes and some wire I'll buy hk lol
