I have a sb800 speedlight which I have hardly used & have this wkend decided to really get to grips with all the options & functions .I think I have bottomed it except for this. How can you set it up for iTTL fill - flash "off camera" .I have googled a website that say ,they do this, but dont indicate how.I am not referring to setting up the commder mode etc , just the fill aspect. Does any one do this or know how regards colin.

How much fill do you want is the question you need to get your head around. Forget doing it all automagically via the camera. It is a case of metering the ambient, adjusting out your shutter speed to reduce or use as much of the ambient as you want, and then adding in fill until you get the balance you wanted

Your flashgun has a manual setting you can use on remote. Use that

i-TTL is brilliant for this. I would use it.

I am not familar with Nikon settings but it's a doddle with Canon. I don't see why Nikon should be any different in principle, with the camera set as master and the remote flash as slave (Canon terminology).
