I have had this for about 9 months and all has been fine. However went to use it a couple of weeks ago and the flash did not work.

I did managed to get it going in the end and found that it was a fault with the battery compartment door. Seems to be a bit loose (I think) anyway with a bit of carefull positioning, I managed to get it going and all was fine.

Come to use the flash last week and the same problem, only this time I could not get it to work.

Is there a common fault with these flash guns that anyone is aware of and is there an easy fix? or do I have to take it somewhere.

Thanks

SB600? No, that's not really common.

The SB800 has a door that can be detached and one of mine needs tape to persuade it to stay closed but SB600s are a different design.

Have you tried taping it?

I had an SB600 given to me as it wasnt working even though it was brand new. The woman had put old/dirty batteries in it and left them in. The battery had marked the connection on the door and it became dirty. I cleaned it off and it worked fine...Try cleaning the metal contacts.
