I’m sure this has been asked a number of times before, so here goes and please be gentle if it has:

Following the demise of my Nikon 18-70 lens which I thought was quiet a sharp lens, I’m now considering buying one of the following to take its place - the Sigma 18-50 2.8 macro or Tamron 17-50 2.8.
I do have the Nikon 18-200 which I believe to be a very good all in one walkabout lens, but as many other people have stated, it’s not the sharpest of lens……which I do agree with, so I would like to think the one I eventually choose will be a (even if small) step up in sharpness from the 18-200.

So, I’m deciding between these two lenses and would like to hear of any opinions/experiences people may have of either of these. Price wise they are very similar, so the deal breaker I suspect will be quality etc. I had a rummage in the ‘Search this Forum’ for info, but with little feedback from any owners of either of these lens.

Any help will be gratefully received.

I have found the Sigma to be an excellent lens. Even won a (very small) competition with it!
