Yes
I've had both a 24-70 and 50mm AF-G go back lately for repairs.

Turnaround is improved, but they basically rebuilt my 24-70.

Looking at my repair slips, this is the 3rd lens that Nikon have done for me with clear out-of-the-box issues, all bought brand new in the last 9 months.

Can't decide if I'm a dud magnet, or standards are dropping?

... Or maybe you don't have enough data to draw any statistically valid conclusions?

All I can say is that in over 30 years using Nikon Equipment I have never had to return a faulty item to Nikon.

Service yes faults no.

I've never had any issues with any of my 7 Nikon lenses - hence they are 100% reliable with 100% build quality, now with the 3 Nikon cameras I've had - therefore Nikon are 100% excellent

Statistically that is :p

I think that there are always going to be issues with the production of high precision equipment like lenses. I would be guessing that poor PD has just had a bad run of stuff.

I have never had any problems with the Canon, Sigma or Tamron lenses that i have used, however we all know that there have been problems with Sigma QC.

I guess its a case of win some lose some, its just a shame that we are talking 100's or 1000's of our hard earned pounds. You do expect better with higher value goods though.

So to sum my post up...i have no idea what im talking about

Not a stab at you MJ - but at everyone in general. It would be interesting to hear how many people have had a problem with Sigma's QC directly, not just "heard about it"

Personally, I've had nothing but good lenses from them, no issues whatsoever. I'm going off to start a separate thread on this:exit:

I don't think Sigma are any worse than anyone else.

I've had a lens replaced by Sigma last year - Sigma 150mm macro, they sent me a brand new lens in under 1 week. Superb service.

Tokina also replaced a Tokina 12-24 that was de-centered - brand new lens supplied by Kenro (very nice folks there, too)

Never had a problem with Tamron across multiple lenses.

I've found Nikon, Sigma and Tokina all great to deal with - this is a major reason why I do not "Grey Import", as I've found all three companies happy to stand behind their products (repairs from Nikon, replacements from Tokina / Sigma)

Sorry, what i should have really said was that we have all heard that apparently Sigma have QC problems.

As in other thread, 4 lenses from them all fine and id never hesitate to buy Sigma again :)

I've had one dud Nikon in 4 years and that was a 14-24/2.8 last month that refused to AF. I'm convinced it was the combination of poor packing by the supplier and using Citylink rather than Nikon QC.
