nikon niftyfifty broken?

So today I was playing with my fifty and I noticed that the apeture wont change from 1.8 anymore.

the apeture ring just clicks, is it a cheap repair or do I just buy another?

is it just the camera telling you it stays at f1.8 or have you looked into the lens to see if it is sticking? just wondering if it needs a little exercise to free it up .

and by exercise i mean manualy giving the aperture ring some turning as it stays on f22 most of the time .exept when the shutter clicks of course .
sorry just opened my eyes , aperture ring just clicks ,,, , maybe worth finding out how much to repair first , but a new one dosent cost that much if it is too much to repair .
