I have the Meike grip on my D300, it works as should but........with new Duracell alkaline batteries it will only fire a few bursts at 8 fps before it drops back to 6 fps. With Eneloops fitted all is well  Possibly the Duracell batteries were not as 'new' as were advertised? For me it makes the D300 feel much nicer in the hand and for the price you can buy one for it's a no brainer.

I use an ebay copy and apart from the odd set of - lets fire off 6 shots for no reason (not a regular thing) - it has been great, cost me about £50 - just be sure to buy one with the correct battery compartment and not a plug in and charge one :)

Ok guys, thanks for the replies..

I bought a genuine Nikon one second hand from MPB, was about £80 and is perfect if you want a Nikon, otherwise would have bought a Meike.
