Nikon LS-2000 scanner (problem)

Just been given one of these, Under XP and Vuescan it is recognised and my Minolta works fine, but it won;t recognise film being inserted. I'm using the SA-20 film loader and it will take a strip of 6 negs in stop when the tail end it about level with the mouth of the scanner then just lock up.

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?
